This photo, supplied by Bernard Svendsen, shows the interior of the Feilding Power Station. The exact date of this photograph is unknown, but we can assume it was taken between 1914 (the year the Power Station was built) and the late 1920's, when the station was superceded with the completion of the central government Mangahao power scheme. A note on the back of this photograph reads: Feilding Power House. Albert worked there for six years as the electrician and engineer. The generators (DC not AC) were driven by an engine which ran on crude oil (straight out of the ground at New Plymouth. It wouldn't flow till heated up).
