This photo shows staff outside the Makino Butter Factory in 1900. The factory was founded by William Wescome Corpe, a pioneer of the Manawatu dairy industry. He arrived in the Feilding region in the early 1880's and had constructed a butter and cheese factory at Makino by 1883. He sold the factory in 1903, to Joseph Nathan & Co. Ltd. of Wellington.
