While the subject of this photograph is unknown, this image almost certainly a war related parade during 1939 - 1945. The truck dates from around this period. The young woman dressed in royal regalia suggests a Queen Carnival. These were popular fundraising events during both world wars, in which candidates for Queen would be supported by a team of fundraisers who organised concerts, bazaars, and other activities. The candidate who raised the most money would be crowned in an elaborate ceremony.
