The Feilding Hotel in 1910, after it was rebuilt from a fire on October 5, 1909. This was the second fire that occurred at the Hotel, and a fireman sadly lost his life in the blaze.
In the early morning of October 5, 1909, Hastie's Hotel (Feilding Hotel) caught fire for the second time in 5 years. Spreading quickly through the walls and ceiling, the blaze claimed the life of fireman Douglas Williamson. Other firemen were almost overcome with the smoke.
