Feilding Library Float

Feilding Library Float at a parade. The librarian standing next to the float is R. Wood, who was involved with the library from 1937-1968.

This photo was likely taken in 1940, as the 'book' displayed on top of the float references the Battle of Montevideo (the Battle of the River Plate). In December 1939, the cruiser HMS Achilles opened fire on a German 'pocket battleship', becoming the first New Zealand unit to strike a blow against the enemy during World War Two.
