Manchester Rifles shooting team, winners Auckland Rifle Association teams match, 1912. standing: S. Mayhew, S. Matthews. Sitting: P. Verry, J.E. Barltrop, L. Belk. The Waihi Rooster: The rooster was the weather cock on the Waihi Fire Station, and was a valued trophy in the North Island for rifle shooting from 1902. The Manchester Rifles won the rooster in a shoot off with the Akarana team, 2nd January 1912.
