A south-west view of a bush fire in Pohangina Valley, taken from the second terrace above the river. The burn took place on the property of Mr. Roberts of Mount Richards, between Coal Creek and the site of the present Pohangina Valley West Road.

It is believed that Wildbore, the photographer, was notified of the burn by Mr. Roberts as he had expressed a desire to photograph a bush fire.

Wagon team belonged to Pat Hanlon of Ashhurst. Logs could be going to Wilson Brothers Sawmill on East bank of Pohangina river. Men may be Charlie Berkenshaw and Albert Sykes, employees of Pat Hanlon.
