Description: This photograph is described as the 'First Port [Family] Home' on the back of the print supplied. However, this is almost certainly a 'bush shanty', a temporary shelter made by timber workers. The use of split palings to form the walls is common among these structures, and the roof of the hut could well be a tent. Several of the men in the photograph are holding axes.

The date and creator of the photograph are unknown, but it has been suggested that the photographer was Charles Wildbore.
