The following garbled chronology accompanies the Library's hard copy of this photograph: "The Presbytarian cause was originally established in the Manchester Block in 1879. Church members immediately began working to build a church and the Colonists' Aid Corporation donated to them a one acre site in Grey St, the present site of St. Paul's parish - 1983. The church was constructed two years later, and the first service taken in the new building was conducted on 9th April, 1882. Photograph taken 1874" (!!).
