Judging by the uniforms shown, this photo was likely taken sometime during World War I. The banner reading "Freedom" contributes to this conclusion as well. However, the precise date of this photograph is unknown.

The school was opened in 1882, and its classrooms had the capacity for 100 students. A house for the schoolmaster was built nearby. In late 1940, the school was closed due to dwindling population, and the current students were enrolled at Halcombe Public School.
George Kirton was Captain and Quartermaster of Feilding Mounted Rifles, and proprietor of the Feilding Star Newspaper. He died in 1915.

Feilding's first fire engine was purchased by P. Thompson and A. E. Eade, in 1891. Various fundraising efforts contributed to the payments for the engine, and the Borough Council agreed to donate twenty-five pounds annually, on the condition the money was used to sink wells in various parts of the Borough.
In 1907, the Fire Board was formed, and from that time on the Brigade has had the most up-to-date equipment on hand.
Portrait of Sarah Anne Monckton, taken on August 9, 1901. Monckton was elected the Governor, first secretary, and Vice-President of the Ladies Club, which has since become the Country Women's Institute.
